About the EAL/D Hub
It’s about providing high-quality education to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students who have first languages other than Standard Australian English and are learning Standard Australian English as an additional language or dialect.
The EAL/D Hub supports teachers to build their knowledge and capabilities in the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers and the Capability Framework – Teaching Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander EAL/D learners.
Features
e-Books
The platform features a series of 30-minute educational modules, called e-Books. These e-Books are designed to facilitate learning in an engaging and practical method that applies online learning into real-world situations.
Learning Journal
At the start of each e-Book you will be asked three or four questions that will help you to think about and record your current knowledge, beliefs and opinions. When you submit your responses. they will go to your own personal Learning Journal.
Action Learning Model
The EAL/D Hub is designed using an action learning approach. The learning is structured so that you acquire new knowledge and skills and put them into action at school.
About the EAL/D Hub
Department of Education Queensland staff are able to access the EAL/D Hub using their EQ username and password to login.
NSW Department of Education staff can now access the EAL/D Hub. Staff will need to register and create a username and password to access the course.
Northern Territory Department of Education staff are able to access the EAL/D Hub using their ntschools login and password.
Department of Education South Australia staff are able to access EAL/D using their learnlink login and password.
Department of Education Western Australia staff are able to access the EAL/D Hub Using their Department email and SSO password to login.
The Spirit Net
Elisa Jane Carmichael is a descendant of the Ngugi people, one of three clan groups of the Quandamooka people of Moreton Bay, Queensland, Australia. We are the people of the sand and seas, Yoolooburrabee.
Artwork: The Spirit Net – hand-stitched fabric, 2012 The Spirit Net was created when I was travelling throughout India in 2012. I created it while reflecting on my home country and our connections with Mother Earth. The spirit net depicts the movement of our waters, mountains, rocks, deserts and rainforests. It captures the spirit of our land with the spirit of our people today, combining our connections as one.
